Wildlife Encounters

Watch for the legendary wild horses that roam the lagoon banks—descendants of horses left behind by the British Army after World War II. Spot some of the 200+ bird species that call Benguela Cove home.

The Sandbar Experience

Weather permitting, your skipper will land on the white sandbar where you can sink your toes into soft sand and, if fortune smiles, witness pods of whales playing in the ocean waves.

Mountain Views

Marvel at breathtaking vistas of the estate nestled against the UNESCO-recognized Kogelberg Biosphere, the smallest but richest floral kingdom on earth.

A Toast to History

The lagoon holds a fascinating wartime legacy. During World War II, these very waters served as a landing base for British Army Catalina seaplanes. These magnificent flying boats would touch down on the glassy lagoon surface, making Bot River a strategic military outpost.

In tribute to this remarkable history, Benguela Cove created our celebrated Catalina wine—a toast to the brave aviators who once graced these waters. As you sip your wine aboard Lady Bonnie, you're experiencing the same serene lagoon those wartime pilots knew decades ago.
